2004 Dive Trips

October 30-November 6, FIJI

28 VDC'ers were part of the 110 attendees at the International Gay and Lesbian Scuba Diving Jamboree (Diving For Life) held at the Malolo Island Resort in Fiji. We took over the entire resort (essentially the entire island) for a week of exotic diving. Many people also added onto the trip by going to Australia or New Zealand. The diving was excellent and the first opportunity many had to experience South Pacific waters. Socially it was the best Diving For Life ever with a Halloween costume party that the local Fijians will never forget, a talent night, beach BBQs, authentic Fijian Lovo dinners and much more local entertainment and activities. Our thanks go to Michael Greenberg and Steve Sangesland, both VDC members, who co-organized this 13th annual event. This DFL raised over $46,000 for LGBT healthcare charities and HIV/AIDS causes. 25% of these funds were allocated to the VDC who distributed it to local NYC charities selected by the Village Dive Club.
