2003 Meetings and Social Events

• Dec. 11, 2003: VDC Holiday Party. 26 club members came together at John's Pizzeria in Times Square for fun and food and a good holiday party.
• Nov. 20, 2003: Club Meeting. Sgt. Bob Pecoraro of the NYPD Scuba Team presented to 19 club members the roles and responsibilities, and challenges, being an NYPD diver and diving NY harbor and environs. A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• Oct. 23, 2003: Club Meeting. 17 members watched a video about the Galapagos Liveaboard recently done by club members, followed by small group discussions on Dive Safety Scenarios. A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• Sept. 18, 2003: Club Meeting. 20 people met to discuss the upcoming Diving For Life trip to Cozumel and discuss the club's winter trip to Key Largo
• May 29, 2003: Club Meeting. 21 club members heard Jim Boyle, a dive instructor, share his insights on dive safety, rescue and rescuer scenarios, and ascents and panic control. We also had a short, informative look at some weird critters - venomous cone shells. The meeting ended with Michael Greenberg administering a scuba quiz...with prizes! A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• April 24, 2003: Club Meeting. A video presentation on diving Saba was seen my the 23 attendees, followed by a discussion on the Buoyancy Compensator, and finally a dive geography quiz! A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• March 29, 2003: Club Outing to the Beneath The Sea Exposition at the Meadowlands Convention Center. 15 club members met at The Port Authority for the short bus ride to the Convention Center.
• March 27, 2003: Club Meeting. Jim Lefferd of Pan Aqua Scuba presented a Reef Fish ID Show and gave framed photos of his underwater photography to winning contestants. A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• March 22/23, 2003: Club Outing to the GLBT Expo at The Javits Center, including a booth advertising The VDC manned by 10 club members
• Feb. 20, 2003: Club Meeting. David Leonard, founder of StarDive.org and author of books on Pacific fish and reef creatures, presented to the 25 attendees on diving The Pacific, notably Micronesia. A group went out for dinner afterwards.
• Jan. 16, 2003: Club Meeting. Rob Birnbaum (a VDC member) presented on diving St. Croix, followed by a club discussion on which charities to receive the DFL 2002 donation from the VDC
